Is it worth it to get an Amazon Prime membership? Wondering how to really save money with Amazon? In this family, we practically live on Amazon Prime. It’s a convenience we have grown quite fond of.

At first, we simply loved the free 2 day shipping for last minute birthday and Christmas gifts, but eventually realized we could get our everyday household products delivered too!

As a busy mom of three kids, I appreciate any way to get our household essentials fast and hassle free.

Other benefits of a Prime membership include thousands of movies and TV episodes, as well as the ability to borrow Kindle books.

How to Save Money with Amazon

Subscribe & Save

Another easy way to save money with Amazon is to use the Subscribe & Save feature.

You can add items such as diapers, toilet paper, and paper towels to your subscriptions so you will never have to worry about running out.

When you start a subscription, you will save anywhere from 10-15% off each item that you buy and the items will ship right to your door without the struggle of shopping with your kids.

Amazon will send you a reminder email before it ships, in case you need to cancel your order, change your order, or reschedule for another date.

Amazon Coupons

Another cool way to save money on Amazon is to clip virtual coupons!  Several items on Amazon’s site have a little coupon button that you can click to save more at checkout.

It’s really just as easy as one click to save more!

Amazon Gift Cards

One of my absolute favorite little hacks is to use survey sites like Swagbucks to earn Amazon gift cards.

I have also had a lot of success earning Amazon gift cards with the Shopkicks app, which is a fun and easy way to earn gift cards.

Cashback apps and sites like Ibotta, Ebates, and BeFrugal also offer cashback when you shop at Amazon!

All of these mentioned are totally free to join and another great way to save money on your Amazon purchases!

Shop Amazon Prime Day & Black Friday Deals

Every year (usually in the summer) Amazon hosts their annual Prime Day for deals and savings that are pretty unbelievable. Same goes for Black Friday Deals (the day after Thanksgiving).

If you know you’ll be making a large purchase, or want to get the best deals on Christmas presents by planning and shopping ahead, you’ll definitely want to wait for these days and take advantage!

With a family of 5, I am always looking for convenience and ways to save. I love how Amazon has so many different ways to make saving a breeze!

  5. Oh man, same here. As a mom of 4 littles, without Amazon prime I’d be up a creek without a paddle. I’m so grateful for fast shipping when I run out of diapers. Or toilet paper. Or shampoo.

  7. Ah we LOVE amazon prime too – I couldn’t live without it, although I’ve never really used it for household/shopping list type items, perhaps I should!

  8. I am a sucker for Amazon, especially with the prime benefits. We always used Subscribe & Save on diapers, wipes and baby supplies. Takes the hassle out of life a little!

hi! I'm shannon

I’m a wife, mom of three, doctor, and blogger! In 2018, I decided to turn my mom blog, into a personal finance blog so others could follow along on our journey to pay off over HALF a MILLION dollars in student loan and practice start up debt. I hope you enjoy following along, and maybe even find some inspiration along the way.
